So what’s the building behind you in the first pic? Isn’t that part of the Smithsonian?
Or am I hopelessly confused? |

Or am I hopelessly confused? It looks like the National Air and Space Museum on the Mall to me. Yes it is part of the Smithsonian as most of the museums on the Mall are. |

Ah, the DC Metro. Now THERE’S an experience. |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

Oh yes they are...lots of really odd folk on those metros...havn’t been robbed yet, so yay...
Went to some art musuems today..pretty neat stuff. the best was the National Potrait gallery...very cool.
I am done with my second week of paging. It has been pretty quiet
this week. Congress was only in session for two days, Wednesday and
Thursday. I am a runner, which basically could be called a glorified
go-fer. It is actually a decent job. Get to see lots of offices, and
collect members’ business cards. Sometimes you bump into "famous"
people.
A friend of mine rode across from Newt Gingrich today. I talked a little
bit to Steve King (A congressman from Iowa) and Duncan Hunter ( a former
presidential candidate). Some of the congressman are pretty nice to us
pages, who are at the bottom of the totem pole, about right above
clueless
tourists who clog lunchrooms and elevators...I did get to see the,
hopefully, final vote on the Economic Stimulus package. Basically, the
Republicans voted for it, but all of them want the tax cuts to be made
permanent. The minority leader, Rep. Boehner (from Ohio), is a very good
speaker. Most
congressman aren’t that wonderful at speaking.
I have also learned that the way a bill is voted on is extremely
complicated, a lot more than your high school government class would have
you think. And basically the easiest way is for Congress to vote to
"Suspend the rules and pass the bill" because the rules are insanely
complex. Also the schedule for the House each day is a "living"
document,
meaning that no one evers knows, for sure, when votes will happen, or even
when they will convene...makes life interesting. |

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. |
