How did I know the second I saw you posted on this thread that you were going to be criticizing me?
The fact is, I’d love to play tournaments, but when there’s a Demoralized/Rapid Reload combo killing everything in expanded, Horns overrunning standard in LotR, or any number of broken MtG decks killing everything in t2 (say, Rogues, Stuffy Doll/Pariah, or any other deck like that), then what fun is there in playing?
You can’t just blatantly ask your opponent not to play cards you don’t like.
LotR in general has been doing a pretty good job of keeping the game from getting broken. I mean, sure there’s still The Faithful Stone or a Horns deck running around, but its not like MtG where combos like that are considered "fun decks." |

You mean in the first set?
I took the survey, and made sure to indicate a less favor of brokenness. |

We still have the problem of opening a booster and pulling out both a Lady Redeemed and a Mordor Aggressor. Drags the fun out of it without even playing the cards.
Granted, there’s also the fact that chances are you wouldn’t get that particular card, but it’s out there. Combos aren’t nearly as much a problem IMO, because they’re only NPE if you play against them. Individual cards, though, can be NPE without even putting them in the deck. |

I’m sorry, but in LeoKula’s defense, I see no criticism to you whatsoever in his post, it’s actually a very simply-put piece of info, stating that which most of us already do anyway, probably you included, I don’t see it directed at you.

Each player group can come up with its own X-list or something. If you’re into santionized tournaments, then it’s a little more complicated, you’ll just have to put up with them. But in the end, isn’t it about having fun? If you know what’s taking the fun out of it, avoid it and keep having fun.
But not everyone plays like that. And not everyone has the same definition of "broken". Sanctioned tournaments, as you’ve observed, don’t have those individual X-lists, so they need an X-list of their own. So you might as well just have an X-list for regular play, standardized.
I don’t trust all people to play "just for the fun of it". |

Done.
Good survey though id like to see why its been run and who is running it. The purpose behind it is unknown which is a shame.
Hope i get to see the results. |

First off, objection, your honor, attorney NBarden has no way whatsoever to tell what’s going on in that person’s mind (and you WILL get that in court if you ever crack a gem like that, so be forewarned). So, as far as I’m concerned, it’s HIS opinion and he’s entitled to express it just as much as you are, as long as it’s not in an offensive way.
Should it become offensive, that’s what moderators are here for. |
