Riddle 9
When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

Are you sure you’re not working for some TCG company now?

I very strongly emphasized NO BROKENESS! LotR went out with a flurry of brokeness, and MtG is turning towards brokeness in the name of tribal and changelings, YGH hit broken with the introduction of Exodia, WoW and Vs went broken when they made cards that affected games other than the one in which you’re playing. All in all, every game turns towards as broken as possible. |

It would be sweet if a card game could go without any form of BROKENESS, but the fact of the matter is any game that goes for a long period of time will eventually run into some form of it. It is way to difficult for creators to go back to every set and read and get to know all the cards when making a new expansion (especially if there are 15+ sets out already). You try and make a new card to open new strategies and players will find a way to make them work for to well with older cards. I guess they only real way to combat the brokeness would be to have a card game that after every 5 sets or some they older cards become unplayable and the new cards become the game. IMO though that would make a unliked TCG/CCG (to me anyway). I like to go through the cards and find "the next big thing" personally. Anyway I took the survey, it was very interesting and thanks M64 for posting it here . |

That game is MtG. They only have like, 5 sets in standard at any given time and 10 sets in extended, with 3 sets in block.
It usually stops the game from being broken, until they come out with a block mechanic like Changeling or Prowl that is just plain broken no matter how many sets are in the meta.
Seriously, if you think hunter was broken, take a look at Prowl. Its the equivalent of a - Sauron. |

After all, I think it’s up to players to play broken cards or combos. If one can identify them so easily, why play these broken cards knowing it drags the fun out of it?
Each player group can come up with its own X-list or something. If you’re into santionized tournaments, then it’s a little more complicated, you’ll just have to put up with them. But in the end, isn’t it about having fun? If you know what’s taking the fun out of it, avoid it and keep having fun.
I found myself moaning about this issue sometime ago, but then the solution is so simple that I don’t even talk about it anymore. Let’s just take out what’s stealing the fun of the game and keep playing it let’s not let a card alone or a few destroy what is a good game |
