...or a picture of an axe, rather. I figure the chances of anyone knowing where I could get something like this is slim, but no harm in asking, eh?
I’m working on a rather long essay on Norse poetics for my Independent Studies into Medieval Lit class (yeah, us homeschoolers get some pretty... interesting... subjects. I, of course, picked this myself) and I desperately need an illustration for one of my points.
Does anyone know where I can get a quality image of a Norse axehead?
It MUST be a decorated axehead, like this:
Thing is, I really need a higher-quality image than the ones I have. It has to be an actual Viking axehead, or illustration of an actual one. No fantasy ones, please. |

| Google image search? Visiting your local/campus library, and possibly asking the librarian for tips? |

Already tried Google... and Altavista, and AskJeeves.
I guess Library should’ve been obvious, but I hadn’t actually thought of that... |

Doesn’t need to be quite that big, but big is good. Mostly, I need a detailed image that isn’t all pixilated or fuzzy, and if I can get it, it’d be nice if it was about 400 pixels, but larger or smaller is fine, as long as it’s really clear. I need detail, but I don’t necessarily need to see every little scratch.
It’s to compare a particular Norse poem to an ornamented axehead (which is what the poem is describing). The poem’s structure is really really complicated, and grammatically reflects the knotwork on the axe, because the poem itself is teid in knots (still all grammatically correct, but complicated and confusing as all get out....) |

Ah, well. Thanks anyway.
I did find one picture that I could attempt to scan, at the risk of doing some damage to the spine of my book, but if I can’t find anything else, I’ll do it. |
