So I was doing the work on my trilogy tonight at Borders. I always go to Borders to write - it isolates me from people and the internet; plus they have comfy seats.
Anywho, I ran into a wall in the story. I’m not worried about getting through it (time always conquers walls), so I diverted my attention to one of my favorite characters in the whole trilogy - a man named Oriel.
Now, I really can’t go into a lot of details (because I want you to be surprised when you read the books when I’m published hehe), but this guy is the Lord of All Traitors and Backstabbers. He is obviously out to accomplish his own goal and will do anything or kill anybody to get what he’s after.
But up until tonight, I didn’t know what that goal was... On the drive home, it hit me!!! Let me say that it’s the most unexpected realization of my entire writing-life and I’ve never been more thrilled to have thought of it. It changes the entire subtext of the books without actually altering any of the events within it. It’s... perfect!!
Just thought I’d share my happiness. I had to vent! |
Riddle 9
When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

Don’t be rude.
Great to hear, menace64! What are your goals as far as a time frame is concerned? |

Don’t you roll your eyes at me, Mr. Sassypants. Why, I ought to give you a time-out. The nerve of younglings! |

Far from it. I’m a writer, and I understand exactly where m64 is coming from...in fact, I’ve had those moments before.
On that note...I did just come up with a really crazy idea, which I might actually end up making something out of, involving Tolkien. Just a crazy idea at this stage, but I might be able to do something about it after talking with a few people. |
