Re: Getting to know you....

Name: William T. Kettler

Age: 23

From: Well, lots of places. Born in New York. Have lived in Oklahoma, St. Louis, Norfolk, Philadelphia, DC Metropolitan areas. I lived in State College, PA for four years (longest I've lived anywhere) although moving back to the DC area has put me close (about three years total).

Occupation: Government contracting.

Spouse: Nope.

Time on TLHH: I joined mid-summer, 2009 (July 29th). I am actually trying to dissolve my entire card collection and foil my decks, which I will keep. In the meantime, I built a third deck which is now 99 % foiled as well...anyways, I'm sure you've all seen my trade page.

How did I get here: Chance.

How long have I played CCGs: The first card game I played was MLB Showdown 2000. I used to collect baseball and football (American) cards and MLB Showdown was a beautiful link between collecting baseball cards and playing a game. I got into Lord of the Rings right before the Mines of Moria set first came out and played the rules wrong until Towers came out. Now I am starting to expand and have one deck in Versus System (which was designed by top Magic players--it is like Magic only with DC and Marvel superheroes). I also just acquired my first Magic cards in a trade, and have a few Star Wars CCG cards on hold at a local card shop that I host LotR tournaments at.

Other Hobbies: Music. I have somewhere in the region of 15,000 songs on my iTunes. I play guitar, bass, drums, piano, ukulele, and timpani. I have a beautiful Crate CA60 Acoustic amplifier and a Boomerang Phrase Sampler so I can loop tracks and basically create a band by myself. It's pretty entertaining. I am also a fantastic cook. I am a regular subscriber to GQ and National Geographic.

Favorite Sports Teams: New York Yankees (baseball), New York Giants (football), Penn State (college football). Sports are a huge part of my life.

Favorite Drink: My favorite beer is probably Sierra Nevada. Or Stone Ale's Arrogant Bastard. I really like Magic Hat breweries. As for mixed drinks, a Tom Collins or a Pimm's Cup.

Favorite Films: I am not really a film person, but I love these three particularly:
3. Ronin
2. Suicide Kings
1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Favorite Books:
3. Siddhartha, Herman Hesse
2. The Eternal Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera
1. L'estrange, Albert Camus

That's probably not in perfect order, and there are a lot of things I am missing. Philosophical literature and beat lit are two of my favorites.

Favorite Music: This would be too hard to limit here. My favorite band is the Who. My favorite album is Quadrophenia. I listen to a lot of classic rock, folk, swing, jazz, conscious hip-hop, blues, and just about anything in between. Right now, some CDs that are in the CD player are Escondida by Jolie Holland, Mmm...Food by MF Doom, En Passantby Jean-Jacques Goldman, and All Things Must Pass by George Harrison. Andrew Bird is one of my favorite performers to see live and The Mysterious Production of Eggs by Bird is probably my favorite album of the last 10 years, if that puts my modern tastes into perspective.

Anything else?: I initial anything I write.
