That's my opinions, bash me or whatever
I am not here to bash anyone and if this
wasn't a game I might be offended that you believed those were my intentions. But so far you have come up with something like 10 grandiose ideas with no concrete plans on how to bring them into action. You are skipping steps and that is a problem.
For instance, before you do anything remotely involving Dream Cards, you would need permission from Tolkien Estate
and Decipher. While I am sure Decipher would not oppose, I am not so sure Tolkien Estate would mind giving free access to possible royalties. Furthermore, do you have any idea what international copyrights cost?
Furthermore, to enact virtual cards, you would need to convince the current playing community that it is indeed an upgrade to the game. The last thing in the world that I want is to log into GCCG and find that now one of my decks is "illegal" because a group deemed it so. I can appreciate the gentleman's agreement everyone has on not using
Galadriel, Lady Redeemed, but who are we to say that she is illegal or worse yet, try to
fix her?
I have been playing this game since Fellowship came out and I am very comfortable with the cards as they stand today. I personally don't prefer sets 11 and beyond, so I stick with Movie Block and other Blocks with cards from sets 1-10. But if I come in and all the sudden
Dwarven Armor is:
![2 [2]](https://lotrtcgdb.com/forums/Smileys/classic/2.png)
Dwarven Armor
Possession • Armor
Toil 2. Bearer must be a Dwarf. Bearer gains
muster.
Response: If bearer is about to take a wound, discard this possession to prevent that wound.
...then I would certainly feel ostracized from the playing group.
I consider myself a pretty important member of the LotR community as I have been playing the game for a long time, have a good understanding of all of the rules, and have brought new people into the game, this site, and GCCG. And I may be in the minority in that I am completely satisfied with where this game stands. But like 5tein implied, you are working backwards. Bring more people into the game. Introduce them to cards. Show them the good strategies, and the bad ones, and the cool ones, and the broken ones.
Nothing would piss me off more than being new to the game, opening a pack, and not being able to use a card because it doesn't do what the card says. I don't want to have a "Player's Committee" rule book and Errata listing sitting next to me every time I play a game. And trust me, it is a slippery slope. Do you really think you can only change a handful of cards? The Movie Block X-List is 21 cards. Are you convinced that you could just change those 21? Because if I changed those, then I might see a useless card like
Beauty is Fading and want to change that too. And pretty soon you can have large percentages of sets not doing what the card says. That's just unacceptable.
I won't stand in your way of what you are trying to do, but you have very limited support from me. I will continue introducing the game to more people and bringing them to these boards and GCCG, but understand that I have no support of what you are doing beyond increasing the playing community.
