All right, I'm at the point where I've compiled all of  the necessary libraries, and now I'm trying to compile GCCG.  But I get an error:

ncarlson:gccg-core-1.0.1 ncarlson$ sudo ./gccg_package install client fonts source
Fetching module list [1] http://gccg.sourceforge.net/modules/available.xml
FAILED: Skipping http://gccg.sourceforge.net/modules/available.xml

It seems that this is not OS X related, but the with the server as if the remote necessary modules don't even exist.

GCCG does not use .app files, otherwise everything would be encapsulated into one package.

UPDATE: For some reason my windows machine (using temporary name tempCBB) can pull the xml files from the server, and my mac os x machine can't.  And both are on the same network, so in theory the issue is with a firewall or security setting of some sort.  Funny, I tried disabling the firewall, or opening the port range 29100-29700, etc.  There is just something out there I'm not doing that has the magic touch
