Pippin WoBaS

Okay. Say I have Pippin, WoBaS and Sam, GeW out. My opponent plays Band of Uruk Bowmen. Sam beats the Uruk but only does 1 wound.
I send Pippin to hand to finish the Uruk off so I can move again unimpeded. My opponent says I can't do that. Who is right?

You are. As long as the Uruk is roaming and Pippin is not assigned to a skirmish you can perform the action.

Really?  I thought Skirmish actions had to come before the wound placement for winning the skirmish.

Well, yes skirmish actions happen before wounds are placed. So you return Pippin to your hand to wound the guy twice, then he takes 1 wound for losing the fight. However, if the strength required for Sam to win the skirmish requires him spotting Pippin, then he will not win the skirmish because strengths are totalled at the end of the skirmish.

Ok that falls in with what I was thinking.  So to clarify:  Returning Pippin to your hand to wound twice must happen before the wound from Sam winning the skirmish is placed.  So if Sam happens to be a strength 8 WITH Pippin, you cannot have Sam win the skirmish AND return Pippin to wound twice.

But you can resolve a skirmish and than perform a skirmish action. But if indeed Sam's skirmish is the last one, it can't be done I assume.

There would have to be another minion on the board to continue the phase after Sam won his skirmish.

Pippins ability can also be performed after skirmish wounds were placed if there are fierce skirmishes etc. still left.

The situation sounds like WoBaS is using his ability, in the same skirmish phase, after skirmish actions are over. If that's the case, then it can't be done. You'd need another skirmish phase for the opportunity to use it.

This is correct. As long as there is another skirmish to be resolved, you can both get the strength bonus from Pippin and wound the minion twice.
