Frodo, Tired Traveller Question
« on: August 31, 2009, 07:16:27 pm »
Let's say I play Frodo Tired Traveller and then play Smeagol (any version). With Frodo's gametext, I play Smeagol to remove a burden, then add a burden, right?

You play Smeagol (which adds a burden - cost) and then it is immediately removed (effect).

Oh. Did not know that. I thought it was the other way around. Thanks :gp:.

You have to following the cost-effect order of Frodo's text. Handy though.

(Cost:) Play a Ring-bound companion...

(as a result of playing Smeagol, you add a burden)

...to...

(Effect:) Remove a burden.

Does this also work if you have Smeagol in your starting fellowship?

No.  Frodo's ability is a Fellowship action, so can only be triggered in the Fellowship Phase (not when you are playing starting companions).  If the text just said "Each time you play a Ring-bound companion you may remove a burden," then yes, but because it says "Fellowship:," it's an action so must be done in the correct phase.
