Safe Paths and Master Broke His Promise
« on: October 17, 2009, 03:04:57 pm »
Has anyone ever used Safe Paths or Master Broke His Promise? I cannot see how either of these cards are ever worth using and I am going to throw them in the "Weight of a Legacy" pile.

For the record, I have always liked Pursuit Just Behind.

The only thing I know is that they both have very funny pics.

Master Broke His Promise can really hurt in a ninja Gollum deck... you just need a Gollum with wound prevention.

Safe paths is a great card if you need to kill some minions in a pinch to prevent grond or similar, then your opponent grabs 3 shadow cards and clogs their hand for your non move :D

Yeah, but how often are there going to be that many minions for it to be effective (and you have a fully-healed Smeagol)?

Pursuit Just Behind does the same thing and the Shadow Player has the option on if they want to bring cards into their hands. My vote--not worth being in a deck.

The opponent can only take the cards into hand if you committed to the move.  =P

As stated, Master broke his promise is nice card in ninja gollum.  Ninja gollum should have one web anyway, so exerting gollum 3 times for MBHP, then stacking him, is very viable.

Unseen Foe is probably a better card

the problem is to keep him alive and unwounded. But if you add threats, or discard cards you might be able to pull it off. That Gollum I mean. Or slippery as fishes, also nice. Sweeter Meats 4x, maybe corsairs to add twilight somehow, but it would be a pile of cards.

My friend had one Ninja Gollum Deck where Gollum gets big and kill people in by strenght also. In that scenario its pretty much reliable to have a 5 cost card with a potential devastating effect. I'm not a fan of that "luck dependent" combos, but you can do it.

The Smeagol card maybe can be used for a strategic double move in a choke deck (against any non cheap-swarm shadow). Doesn't matter if your opponent will take 3 shadow cards if he/she will not have pool to play it anyway (well, he/she could always get some cheap crushing event/condition from discard but not all shdows have that).

Anyway never tought in a deck that uses them... hmmm... maybe...

Not enough pool with 5 extra twilight?!
I don't see a good use for Safe Paths either.
