A Warning to GCCG players....
« on: November 27, 2009, 09:03:38 am »
GCCG user "Mager" is a known cheater.

In a recent game with Heije (Gil-Estel), Mager moved both draw decks off of the screen, leaving just pixels of his still visible. Furthermore, he has (in the past) declared one result and then switched right before you accept the result. If you do play against him (which I do not suggest) exercise caution and always declare the result of your match.

While it is impossible to play cards directly from your draw deck without having your mouse over it, you can still draw cards by typing "dX" where X is the number you wish to draw. Obviously, that is without quotes.

Hope this information helps everyone in the future. The GCCG crew is working on banning his IP.

Best to ask wlk about this one if you want to see it happen.

Here's some more information.

When asked about the draw decks, Mager either a) ignored the question or b) starting divulging lots of personal "life" issues that no one wanted to hear about.

Yeah it was annoying, but on the other hand entertaining to see the stories he had to tell and to share them with the spectators...

lolol Gil-Estel, you're Heije?! :D Didn't knew that... eheh

In card games there are always many ways of cheating. Some are direct, some are not. In my many years of Magic the Gathering I dueled players with very few fair play and a lot of them with iron balls to do things I'd never imagine lol... One time in a Pro Tour I dueled a guy (I'll repeat, in a PRO tour) that draw 2 cards every start of his turn... I noticed that and asked what he was doing... he then said he didnt knew you could only buy 1 card from the deck at a time... LOL  Of course the blush in his face was more then enough to see he was cheating. At least I got an easy win XD

But what I find the most hard thing to get angry at in this game is when someone asks you: "Sorry, can I re-do something?" I did it a lot when I started to play... sometimes you forget to play a condition or a manuver card and ask if you can still play it... But a few days ago I got a guy playing with me in the league, that had a Gimli with 1 weapon on him... and as soon as he sees my balrog coming he just says: "Hey, I made a mistake, can I fix it?" "Sure..." And he just placed 1 weapon from another dwarf in his gimli... guess what... I lost the game with that. LOL

XD

Yeah, Heije = me. I blew my cover way back, haha. It is indeed good to see a lot of casual players, that don't mind to take it back a phase. I won a game sunday vs Marko I guess, because he was kind enough to make me undo an assignment which would have led to certain death. Next turn I won, so I offered to go undecided, which he accepted, but only after I really tried to talk him into that, haha.

Usually I'm fairly forgiving with mistakes, and I hope that my opponent will be as well. Miscalculations especially... for example, if my opponent assigns a minion to the RB but fails to notice that the RB will be overwhelmed due to some str+ condition or other. But ... sometimes I'm a stickler if I know that allowing my opponent to go back would cost me the game. Sort of like the Balrog reference. Or, if I do something deliberate (such as playing a Maneuver or Archery event to kill a minion), and my opponent says, "Wait, can I play a different one...?" ;)

Spot on. Miscalculations happen. Everything else isn't fair game.

I usually just grin and bear it when I realise a decision I have made will cost me.

Consider this - I was playing [Evil Men] Archery and someone played Precision Targeting before I passed (I was playing 3 Hunters). He could only spot 1 [Evil Men] minion, so technically I could have said "my action first" and FtTH him... but this would have been cheap. I would not have played it if I didnt know PT was coming.

I have no problems if people redo things, as I ask often fot that too. For example too heal at a sanctuary (In the middle of the fellowship phase) . It is something different if a player decides to change things after he has seen the opponents turn - like the balrog above - that is not fair. Or after something happend, like drawing cards, playing events and so on.

You gave away your life's grace. I cannot protect you anymore.

If a mistake is so obvious that when you read it you stump the blood out of your vains :p, I am willing to take it back. But indeed when an event is played and then you're taking things back, that is somewhat lame. It depends however on the course of the game. If your deck, or that of your opponent is doing great and a stupid mistake is killing you, than I'm more willing to take something back, than when the outcome is already obvious.

Healing at a sanctuary in the middle of the fellowship phase. That's a classic. I have to request that a lot too!

The game would take HOURS if you stopped and checked everything every time, every phase, every turn

I usually point out mistakes that my opponent may have made, even if it hurts me... winning isnt everything!

LOL :D Sounds familiar... And my most common mistake is the Numenor maneuver card where you can take a random card from adversary and heal X companions... I have this thing that makes me think its a card to be played at regroup phase... and its NOT! How many times I asked "hey, I forgot to play it before :/" LOL But usually this doesn't make the game balance for my side... Now, the Balrog move was very low lol... the guy then made Gimli bear 2 weapons and pumped him with that card that gives him +4 if bearing 2 weapons... He made his gimli a 18 -.- He owned my Balrog when in a different planeshift where I am a bad, bad and stylish guy, he wouldn't and he would lost 2 dwarfs there!!

Mager has again moved decks in a game against 99ent. When confronted, he claims this and all previous malfeasances were due to lagging internet connection.

[sarcasm]I'm sure that's the case.[/sarcasm]
