Trust Me As You Once Did / Ring-Bearer Wounding
« on: March 03, 2010, 08:40:11 pm »
I built this in a few minutes for another topic. Just thought I would post it in its own. I can't really see ever playing it (I'm not a big fan of Trust Me As You Once Did decks), but I may as well get some thoughts on it. This deck isn't very creative; It does not have any big tricks or really anything that makes it overtly unique.

Starting:
Isildur, Bearer of Heirlooms with The One Ring, Answer to All Riddles
Gimli, Son of Gloin
Legolas, Elven Comrade

Free Peoples (34):
Gandalf, The White Wizard
Radagast, the Brown
Aragorn, Heir of Elendil x3
Boromir, Defender of Minas Tirith*

Barliman Butterbur, Prancing Pony Proprietor

Glamdring, Lightning Brand
Gandalf's Staff, Focus of Power
Narya
Radagast's Staff
Dwarven Axe
Bow of the Galadhrim
Long-Knives of Legolas*
Anduril, Flame of the West
Narsil, Blade of the Faithful

Trust Me As You Once Did x3
Moment of Respite x2

A Wizard Is Never Late x4
Down From the Hills x2
Might of Numenor x3
Deep In Thought
Roll of Thunder

Shadow (34):
The Witch-King, Lord of the Nazgul x2
Ulaire Nelya, Ringwraith in Twilight x3
Ulaire Enquea, Ringwraith in Twilight x3
Morgul Brute x4
Morgul Destroyer x4
Morgul Whelp x3
Morgul Skulker x2
Gollum, Dark as Darkness

Fell Beast x4

His Terrible Servants
Stronghold of Minas Morgul
Fat One Wants It
Evil-Smelling Fens

Captured By the Ring x4

Site Path:
Rohirrim Road
Rohirrim Camp
Hall of the Kings
Anduin Banks
Steward's Tomb
Minas Tirith Fifth Circle
Osgiliath Crossing
Morgulduin
Dagorlad

I think it is pretty straight forward. As for the Free People's side, draw Gandalf early with A Wizard Is Never Late to set up your Fellowship. Use the extras to grab Radagast, the Brown and Barliman Butterbur, Prancing Pony Proprietor. The rest of the free people's side is pretty obvious.

As for the Shadow side, add threats, burdens, and everything else, but your one goal is to wound the Ring-Bearer. Fell Beast for fierce and cycling and Evil Smelling Fens to grab that Witch-King, Lord of the Nazgul right when you need him. I thought about throwing in a Sauron, the Lord of the Rings for fun, but couldn't really find a place for it.

Thanks for checking it out.

I've never played more A wizard is never late then the number of [Gandalf] character I had otherwise it may jam your hand. You could remove one and add another copy of Gandalf in case you meet discard or just for healing. Narya may not be enough for corruption protection, Scroll of Isildur or Sam, SoH seems necessary. I'd choose Legolas' Sword over his knives for healing purpose.

Hey, this is a pretty cool deck idea.  Where did it come from Ket?  I'm only kidding.  You know me, I'm a joker.

Seriously though,
Legolas' sword is a great weapon.  The more I think about the shadow you present here, the more I like it.  However, personally, I would run more morcs and less gollum despite his effectiveness.  I'm a sucker for theme.  the fell beasts are a great addition too, with fierce str 16 witch king, you're nearly garaunteed a few wounds on the RB.

c-work: Between Fell Beast and Moment of Respite, I don't think cycling out A Wizard Is Never Late is a problem. Legolas' Sword is brilliant though.

jdizzy: As for the Shadow, I am a sucker for Shadow sides that work well together and kick the free people's #$&*@!. I would suggest this does just that much more than a Morc deck. However, if I was interested in building a Morc deck, it would likely be the Siege of Gondor Morcs with Ulaire Lemenya, Assailing Minion support.
