Having deck Idea troubles
« on: August 02, 2010, 01:15:13 pm »
So I've been collection Lotr cards since they first came out. I have cards from sets 1-19 (Barely any from ros,th,andt&d).

I play with my brother and my best friend, and lately have been having trouble winning:P

I used to play a rohan/uruk religiously until my brother made a site path controlling celeborn/elven arrow/galadriel deck and I cant seem to win. I can kill SOME companions but not all.

Now my friend has made an elf deck/troll from the new "orc" race.

Can't seem to kill them either:P

I dont want to go back to rohan or my gollum ninja. Any sugestions on a fun deck? Also, a winning deck :P (I have a black rider box coming in the mail to so I will have lots of cards from that set)

Thanks

***I need a good fellowship side to compare with uruk archery. *** Any Suggestions?

shadowplay/unheeded preparations/slaked thirsts

if he is playing a troll swarm, that might be your best bet at taking him down. kill the keyward before he can crank out the twilight.

it is also very fun to play. use eowyn, loi to mop the floor.

So, A dwarf/Hobbit with eowyn LOI? what shadow side should I use to negate or even survive arrows?

How much does he throw out? If he doesn't throw out that much then you can use enduring wraiths. Also any enduring Shelob is a nice tech against archery. But if he is playing elf archery he is prolly going to play featherd x4 or something like it.... IMO the best tech against archery is to play archery yourself. Evil men archery is a good strategy and you don't even need GATS to pull it off. Basically play the deck for the archery phase and try to dish out as much as you can before your minions die. The evil men do have Voice of the Desert Southroun troop and pavise for wound protection also to ensure extra wounds during the skirmish phase. I will go find the deck I run and post a copy.

Edit.
36
Archer of Harad x4
Fletcher of Harad x3
Mumak Rider x4
Southron Murderer x4
The Mouth of Sauron, Messenger of Mordor
Voice of the Desert Southron Troop
Gats x1
Gothmog Morgul Leader x1

Howdah x4
Precision Targeting x4
Elevated fire x4
Pavise x2
Rapid reload x2
Countless Companies

If you are having real trouble with archery CC can be nice to get back pavise and you can always pack more SouthronTroops. Oh and I forgot, Bill Ferny Agent of Saruman x4+Pavise with pumps will walk right through his archery and right to the ring bearer (and he prolly doesn't have to many pumps if playing archery).

Double EDIT (srry)

In addtion to hobbits with shadow play I would make sure to use Durin III and rings of Fury (+other damage boosters if you see fit) with Great Day, Great Hour. That way he should only be able to get a few trolls. Don't worry though, Durin III eats Trolls for breakfast (in moderation).

what galadriel is he using? the ring-bearer, or like lady redeemed?

lady redeemed is hard for anything to reckon with, but as for arrows, maybe enduring nazgul to make use of the arrows. the ones that don't kill you ;-)

i had a really cool nazzy auto-corrupt deck if he is giving you plenty of twilight. but its useless if he is using lady redeemed.

and i actually think i didn't use eowyn in my wounding deck. i wish i still had the decklist. i think mine might have been movie block. but it might be your best shot against the troll types. eowyn can't hurt though, unless he has some large fellowship hate.

yea he uses lady redeemed and the ONLY way I can get rid of her fast is if I use my troll mordor side with Terrible as the Dawn, it works because he will never discard arwen and legolas

Isildurs ban isn't very good at all, maybe you are confusing it with IB (Ithilien Blade). Basically the alterantive ring bearers are good because you don't have to splash in cards to keep frodo alive.
