Jesus Christ! Thank God it was only the internet, and that you didn't think that I was intentionally out to get you!
I thought, and still think, that you deliberately misinformed me because you're tired of people asking the questions that have already been asked on this forum by other people. Personally, I find that to be rather silly and not a little rude.
I used to think that Hawkeye was over-reacting in his similar rants over commonly asked questions, but I think that he's right. Let's look at the statistics of the thing.
Using the well under-utilized Search feature this board is kind enough to offer, three pages of results come up with a search of "GCCG FREE." Granted, not every single one will be specific to your question, but I would estimate about 80% of them would be someone else coming in and asking the same question, and getting the same answer.
But wait! It gets better! Let's check out the source of the program itself. They specifically answer that very question on the fact page.
Granted, that requires venturing outside the friendly confines of The Last Homely Home. But did you see, the great humanitarian, champion of providing wisdom and knowledge to the serfs, our very own ket the jet started a topic with the answers to the most common GCCG questions?
I'm new to this forum, and not very familiar with use of the internet as a whole. If I had been aware of the facilities you describe or had noticed the other topic you mention, you may be assured that I would have used them. However, I was not and had not. Consequently, when I noticed this topic entitled "Post your GCCG questions here", I assumed that it could cause no distress to post my GCCG questions here. I certainly had no reason to think that someone would take the trouble to construct a believable lie rather than taking (probably less) trouble to simply answer me honestly (or direct me to the answer).
So I'm sorry that you took offense to something so simple...
Oh, it was certainly simple. And I'd accept your apology if you meant it. You quite obviously don't.
...when you were unwilling to go to even minimal efforts to find the answer by yourself.
If you offer assistance in finding answers for people, it seems ridiculous to then lie and rant because a person didn't search out alternative sources of information before approaching you...
...I must have mixed you up with some other Kev-La that was a little more easy-going (or resourceful)...
Of course, I like to think that I
am easy-going and resourceful. I think it more likely that you have mixed me up with a Kev-La who doesn't mind being lied to or thinks that pranks should still be considered pranks even when they are not in the least bit amusing.
I clearly didn't understand, mass'r. I'll get back to answering every question that you have...just don't give me the lash.
It seems to me that you are of the opinion that when you are presented with this sort of question, you are left with only two options: "Lie" or "Answer all questions that the person in question might ask". I can myself think of several other options, such as "Answer a few simple questions" or "Direct them to where the answers can be found" or even "Wait until someone with more patience comes along and answers their questions". You'll notice that the last option requires absolutely no effort on your part whatsoever, which, for someone claiming to be tired of answering the same old questions, should appeal.
Rmmm...mrhmmm...mmmmm... Free at last, free at last. Thank God almighty that I'm free at last!

I didn't understand this last bit. Was I meant to?
