This discussion and ruling is part of the series of discussions and rulings for an "Unofficial Rulebook" as described here.

This discussion will be open from Sept 6, 2010 - Sept 9, 2010.
The outcome of this discussion and ruling will be added to the "Unofficial Rulebook".

Discussion #19:

With cards like Armor and Gimli's Helm, if another card, like Sapling of the White Tree or Dwarven Bracers is used to prevent the would-be first wound during a skirmish, does the character avoid taking any wounds at all during the skirmish?  (previous discussion, previous discussion)

Option 1 (initially favored ruling):
No. Since the character has not "taken" a wound yet (because it was prevented), the character can still take a wound.

Option 2:
Yes. Once the character has been assigned a wound (even if taking the wound is prevented), that character cannot be assigned any more wounds.

Option 1.

Unless using the Skirmish part of Gimli's Helm obviously.

  • One does not simply Rock into Mordor.

Previous discussion concluded successfully with Option 1 as the choice. I was leaning very much towards Option 2, but chompers convinced me otherwise. I believe his proof is sufficient.

Option 1.
Some days you're the statue, and some days you're the pigeon.

Option 1, considering some gameplay reasons.

Option 1. ES's explanation in the previous discussion was clear enough for me.

Option 1 it is.  No updates needed for the "Unofficial Rulebook".
