Anyways...I want to finish my X-Men cast before I move onto villains. I already have a good Apocalypse though.

Making someone bigger is always easier, and although Sean is only 5'10" (and Sabretooth about 6'6"), adding height to him isn't very difficult either.

What do you think of Allison Mack as Jean Grey? Picture her with strawberry blonde hair, I guess, but similar age to Chris Pine (my current pick for Cyclops)...

Do we have our winner?

The best Spider-Man stories are when he is in High School. Because I wanted to take a break from X-Men, I figured I'd through out a  few Spider-Man characters.

Luckily, the franchise is officially being rebooted, so no more Tobey McGuire and Spider-Man as an emo-guy.

Here are the character models in Spectacular Spider-Man. These would be the ages I am going for, I suppose.

Peter Parker: Michael Angarano or Logan Lerman depending on the age you are going for...
Gwen Stacy:
Mary Jane Watson: Emma Stone
Liz Allan
Flash Thompson
Aunt May
Captain Stacy
Harry Osborne: Anton Yelchin
Eddie Brock: Ryan Hurst
J. Jonah Jameson: J.K. Simmons (In what seemed to be the only inspired casting of the previous trilogy)...
Robbie Robertson
Norman Osborn: Kevin Bacon
Dr. Curt Conners: Nathan Fillion

Just one quick villain:
Hammerhead: Ray Wise

I'll fill in more here and with X-Men as I think of them.

ha, no one can beat Simmons for JJJ.  you're right on that one...I didn't mind McGuire too much as peter parker (minus emo spidey of course), I think he blended akward and heroic well.

I had a specific problem with Spider-Man 3. Other than that, Green Goblin sucked (both of them, both in casting and characterization), but the rest was quite ok. And I don't see Mack pulling the seriousness Jean Grey requires.

but I think the general casting in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was fine, so I think that Taylor Kitsch as Remy...

I wish I was so nonchalant about watching movies as you seem to be. I would say it is accurate that I hate about 85% of the movies I see.

And I don't see Mack pulling the seriousness Jean Grey requires.

I don't know Allison Mack as an actress because I don't watch Smallville, but she had the mid-level prettyness that I was looking for in the role. The kind where...she's quite beautiful but clearly the second place in the movie. Like...she'd be best friend material in most chick-flicks, but probably not the leading lady in many.

And to your Spider-Man point, Spider-Man 3 ended with all of the major characters in the movie crying together. In what is, and what shall always be, the worst ending to any super-hero movie of all time.

Oh, and to your Willem Dafoe point, I don't think he was a great Goblin but I like him as an actor. I did think that Alfred Molina was a fantastic choice for Dr. Octopus, but the script for that movie and character differences between the comics and the movie made that movie very disappointing for me. Anyways, you killed Green Goblin in the first movie, how could you kill Spider-Man's other arch nemesis in the second? So much for a Sinister Six reunion!

hey, now, I haven't said much about the PLOTS...just the casting, since that seems to be mostly what this thread is about.  I'm glad marvel got their own studio, cuz hollywood was ripping these franchises to shreads...I screamed bloody murder when they took out Venom after giving him like twenty minutes total screen time without once referring to himself as "we".  I was pissed when we end up with what, three?  four?  of the major characters in X-Men dead at the end of X-III. (not that death is any sort of barrier in the comic book world, but, come on.).

now, as far as picking people that look the part, I think they did well, and in some cases, as those you've pointed out above, they picked people who acted the part well, too.  But I understand better than a lot of people that looks can be deceiving...I've enjoyed the action in most of the super hero movies of late, but the overall storylines have mostly been disappointing.

I'll be honest, there were very few inspired cast choices in any recent Marvel-associated movie.

My brother suggested (and I agree), that Pixar should be the way to go with Fantastic Four and even Spider-Man...although that will not likely happen.

jlfksdjflksdjf....not since Disney acquired them.  I woulda trusted them before, but not since they're owned by the biggest sequel-whoring company on the whole dang planet.  That's the same reason X-III and Spiderman-3 were such letdowns; guys in suits sitting around board meetings with a whiteboard marked "Ways to Screw Over Customers, Ruin Franchises, and Crush People's Dreams (While Making a Good Quarterly Statement)" is a lose-lose situation for everybody.

If you haven't seen my The Dark Knight thread, I suggest you check it out. It will maybe show you a glimmer of how I watch movies.

And Brett Ratner claims to have saved the X-Men franchise...what a prick.

I agree with your various analysis, for the most part, and what I haven't, I've spoken up about (although it's usually a difference of order of magnitude rather than a complete reversal).  hyper-analysis FTW!  nah, but I enjoyed the batman thread...now to actually go out and see the darn movie.

Okay...now roll with me on this one...what about...

Dakota Fanning for Gwen Stacy?

Now, I know you are probably like, "the little alien girl from the #$&*@! early 00s movies?!" and I would have said "yes," but...

...she's not a little alien anymore. She has grown up into looking like an actual human, and by the time the first movie actually came out (May 2012 is a hopeful release date by the studios) then I think she would be 18 or so which is still fine for someone playing a junior/senior in high school.

I'd much rather young people play young people than old people who look young play young people (ex., Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls).

I've never seen her play a not annoying part, but I guess if she doesn't act annoyingly and her voice has changed and her looks too, she might be able to do it...

I think my biggest problem is that I don't know actors and actresses who appear regularly on the Disney Channel.
