All players will never agree on the same thing .. the constant disagreement on this site is evidence of that .. in the end it all comes down to personal choice. In the whole scheme of things WitD may not be a big issue for most of us as we may not play a format that supports this card.

Quite frankly, I still don't get what Lurtzy and Mauddib are even arguing about...
Does anyone actually have a problem with Tbiesty issuing a clarification in his rulebook? That seems like the simplest solution.
The clarification (which btw both of us want) wasn't what we were arguing about. Try reading the thread, it might help.

so then what is the agreement?  use them or no?

What are you talking about?

Aren't we trying to figure out if using FoA and WiTD are ligit as per a mutual agreement?  you know what, forget it. I'm going to use the dern cards whether or not there is a mutual agreement.  So, to everyone, if you ever see me on gccg and I'm playing a format which supports those cards, feel free to use them cause I will.  Of course, I usually play movie block anyway so i guess technically, this post has been a complete waste of your time in reading. Have a good day.

Try reading the thread, it might help.
I did, and it didn't. :)

All I'm saying is that if we agree that WiTD needs a simple clarification like the one Tbiesty mentioned some 20 comments ago, then any further discussion about WiTD is unnecessary and not worth Tbiesty's time.

I am sure Tbiesty can speak for himself. If the argument doesn't concern you then don't comment. Simple. Saves everyone the waste of time of having to also read your posts.

I appreciate your comment.

It would have been nice for this WiTD argument between MuadDib and Mr. Lurtzy to happen in another thread (or PM), since it's not really the purpose of this thread; in fact, if you guys want to continue your argument, would you mind taking it elsewhere, please?  I'd prefer this thread to be used to focus on identifying things that need clarification, etc., to make it easier for others to participate.

Thanks!

So Rabbit Stew, it has been discussed in the past that once a [Shire] companion, bearing this condition, has won a skirmish, it may then be transfered to any companion with the fellowship keyword.  Can we "unofficialize" this this for future use.

here is the last word on it thus far

We can certainly discuss Rabbit Stew (and requirements for transferring in general) as Discussion #3, which I'll open in a couple days.

By the way, we can go through the identified issues in any order.  Let me know which ones you want to get to first and those will be moved to the top of the list.  Thanks guys!  :)

I'm not sure the Crashed Gate issue has been solved. What happen if site 4 is controlled, can you choose to make your opponent take control of a site (even if he can't)?

As you can see, before Gerontius decided to resurrect our argument with his post, nothing from me has been mentioned about WITD since the last page.

For the record I think without Decipher's approval, everything to do with the CRD discussion is a big waste of time. I am in the category of people who thinks the game is fine the way it is, and any changes you guys make I won't use anyway, so please feel free to ignore any of my posts regarding these things.

LOTR TCG is well past it's hayday and I can accept that.

There are very few "rulings" that have more than 3 or 4 people backing them. Hardly a consensus.

I find it funny that even now, with so many active members, the "unofficial rulings" are getting only minimally discussed. My quote above was a general concern of something that could happen, and that appears to have. I'm starting to think that these clarifications are unnecessary, as the 2 already discussed are very clear, and needed no clarification.

How about Neekerbreekers' Bog now.  The previous thread barely took off and I'm sure there is more to argue about.

I myself feel "each other character" includes shadow and allies.  I seem to recall there is another card that uses that wording but can't put my finger on it.

Here are explanations of some other issues (taken from the draft), for consideration in the list:

---

The following covers wording oddities:

Quote
• Official: "If an assigned minion subsequently becomes unassigned as a result of a card's game text (e.g. a triggered ability), it is not a leftover minion and is not eligible to be assigned by the Shadow player."
• Addition: "If an assigned minion subsequently becomes unassigned as a result of a card's game text, it is not eligible to be assigned again."
Closes reassignment to the Free Peoples player as well (e.g. in a situation with Desert Runner killing a companion).

Quote
• Official: "If a card is discarded when it comes into play, ignore any effects triggered when it comes into play."
• Addition: "If a card is played as a cost of an action, and that card is discarded when it comes into play, the effects of that action are ignored."
In the case of costs/effects, I wouldn't consider the effects to be "triggered" by anything; they're just a step that happens after costs are paid and responses are finished. Intent here is to clarify the scope of the original ruling (e.g. for Northern Ithilien).

Quote
• Official: "When a unique card is in play and currently active, you cannot play another card that has the same title."
• Change: "When a card is in play and currently active, you cannot play another card that has the same title if either one of them is unique."
Closes a situation where Mumak Commander, GAtS can be played after Mumak Commander.

Quote
• Official: "If the total strength of one side is more than the strength of the other side (but less than double), the side with the most strength wins that skirmish."
• Addition: "Skirmish winners and losers are declared after strength totals are compared."
Straight out covers an overwhelm situation.

---

Other rulings:

Quote
• As the Free Peoples player, you get the first opportunity to perform an optional action responding to each new trigger.
Another interpretation is that, starting from the first trigger, you keep alternating on optional actions right through successive triggers.

Quote
• Game text that begins with "Discard…" is performed only when that card is played.
Clarifies what happens when Shadowfax GotM is transferred. This issue is linked to Watcher in the Water, Many-Tentacled Creature (compare to Watcher in the Water, Keeper of Westgate).

Quote
• Effects are performed in the order listed in the card's game text.
It might be advantageous to use a different order (e.g. with Gorgoroth Swarm).

Quote
• If the costs and requirements of an action are paid, and the source card is discarded before the effects are performed, the effects are still performed.
• If an action is preceded by a trigger, and the source card leaves play before the action can be performed, that action is not performed. Exception: If an action is triggered by the source card leaving play, that action is still performed.
Clarifies the performance of actions when the source card is no longer in play. Given that Decipher ruled the Corsair Marauder situation works, not to mention the Theoden TaP example, I'm wondering if the second might be reversed.

Quote
• A killed character immediately leaves play. That character is not placed in the appropriate dead pile or discard pile until all actions triggered by that card leaving play have resolved.
Clarifies the "transit time" of a killed character (e.g. with Sam's ability and threats triggered).

Quote
• A player loses the game if his Ring-bearer is killed, and he does not have another character to carry on as the Ring-bearer after both players pass on responses to the Ring-bearer being killed.
Clarifies when Sam's ability must be used.

Quote
• The default wound(S) placed on the characters of the losing side is a required action triggered by losing the skirmish. If a character is overwhelmed, killing that character is a required action triggered by losing the skirmish.
Clarifies the timing of cards triggered by winning/losing a skirmish.

Quote
• If the last character of one side is killed before strength has been totaled, actions triggered by the character being killed happen before actions triggered by winning or losing the skirmish.
Clarifies whether "killed" and "won/lost" responses are triggered simultaneously in this situation (e.g. with YaLaaT and Slag Mounds).

Quote
• When stacking a card from hand or draw deck, do not reveal that card until after it has been stacked.
It might be advantageous to know what card you're stacking where (e.g. when using Suspended Palaces).

Minions and allies don't have resistance.
